From the desk of Clara Moss

Novels born from quiet studies and old field guides

I write historical fiction anchored by ordinary lives, archival research, and the physical weight of old paper. Every book takes shape in a timber room overlooking the garden.

Background

From municipal archivist to full-time novelist

Before writing full-time, I spent a decade cataloging regional manuscripts in coastal archives. Working among crumbling bindings and handwritten ledgers taught me that history is not made of grand dates, but of quiet rooms, forgotten correspondences, and small domestic choices.

Today, my desk is piled with vintage field guides and half-filled notebooks. I aim for stories that feel lived-in and honest, best enjoyed under a wool blanket when the afternoon tea goes cold.
